So Outfest is in full swing right now in our little City of Angels. Usually the film festival that brings the most joy to my life. Unfortunately some dumb ass director had to go and ruin it with his ridiculous statements.

According to Don Who? I mean Roos, gay actors shouldn’t come out of the closet. Don thinks it hurts their careers and says as a director he doesn’t want to know if the people he’s casting for roles are gay. In all fairness to this douche, he just doesn’t want to know the sexual preference either way. Hmmmm… So he thinks that gay actors should hide who they are. Never go out in public with their lovers, never go out to any gay clubs or bars and never exchange intimate moments where people might possibly see them? Does that mean that he expects straight people to behave in the same manner? I fucking doubt it.
Mr. Roo also said “I have a deep respect for homophobia [in American society] and I don’t think it will ever go away. I don’t think actors coming out is going to help end homophobia. I think doctors, teachers and lawyers coming out will end homophobia.” Mr Roo you have lost your mind. It’s people like you that hold our community back. I refuse to just accept homophobia as a given and carry on with my life. And yes, you’re correct, it probably will never go away. But there are strides to be made and I refuse to let me “fear”, which is what your comments seem to based off of, stand in the way of me standing up for myself, my community and my equal rights.
Every gay man knows there comes a time when you must just bend over and take it ;), but in this regard, NEVER!
